Career Skills and Competency Development That is Essential in the Workplace

TDP is an affiliate of The Pennsylvania Academic and Career/Techincal Training (PACTT) Alliance. Through this accreditation, we utilize nationally recognized assessment tools and provide industry recognized certification; our program also assists in guiding youth toward a career path best suited to their strengths. We provide a foundation that includes an employability portfolio, career plans, phase sheets, sample job applications, and resume skill building.

Our career readiness training program assists youth in developing core competencies in areas such as:

      Industry Recognized Certifications That Matter

      The employment world today is filled with semi-qualified job seekers. In order to give TDP youth attending our program a “leg-up” over the competition, we provide a plethora of nationally recognized certifications and trainings utilizing on-site instructors.

      These include:

      • ServSafe Food Safety Program for Employees

      • Valvoline Career Tech Motor Oil Education
      • American Hotel and Lodging Program
      • Welding

      The American Hotel and Lodging Program provides 180 classroom hours of knowledge and skills needed for a long-term career in the lodging industry. Youth enrolled are be given the opportunity to earn a portable industry certification in one of four related areas of study: Front Desk Representative, Guestroom Attendant, Maintenance Employee, or Restaurant Server.

      Taylor Diversion Programs’ Welding Program, located in Sheffield, PA offers a 10-week, 160-hour hands-on welding course to provide students with entry-level skills in the field of welding and metal fabrication. Open to the public as well, anyone enrolled in the course has the opportunity to learn 4 different welding processes:  STICK, FLUX CORE, MIG and TIG, along with Cutting/Grinding and Welding Safety.

      Youth in our programs are encouraged to participate in community service projects and job placement opportunities in the local and surrounding areas.

      Our Growing Folk School

      Learning by Doing

      TDP’s, Forest Folk School is an on-site opportunity that assists youth in gaining skills in traditional crafts and workmanship.

      Folk initiatives assist in providing youth with purpose by productively connecting tradition with current trends and experiences. The intergenerational opportunities are sure to create memories that will last a life time.
