Taylor Diversion Programs

Thursday, September 29th, 2016 marked the celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony of the newest building added to Taylor Diversion Programs (TDP) on Lighthouse Island in Tionesta. Approximately 60 adults and students attended the very special event, honoring Jack Sherman, Owner, Allegheny Valley Development, and Debra and Michael Cummings, Owners of Taylor Diversion Programs.

PA State Representative, Cris Dush, speaks to TDP youth and audience members attending the Grand Opening Celebration on Lighthouse Island.

PA State Representative, Cris Dush, was the Guest Speaker for the celebration and delivered an emotionally moving and heartfelt message to the audience. Recognizing the vision and work of the Cummings and Jack Sherman, Representative Dush praised their commitment to “saving the lives of youth” in a setting as special and well cared for as Lighthouse Island.

Debra Cummings, Jack Sherman and Michael Cummings, cut the ribbon celebrating the grand opening of TDP’s newest building on-site at Lighthouse Island.

The new building, designed by architect, Harold Best, will house TDP female students and is scheduled to open in October. Featuring a state-of-the-art stainless steel kitchen, (which was purchased through a state competitive PACTT grant), students and community members will have opportunities to enroll in ServeSafe//Food Management classes, earning the credentials to work in food services on-site, as well as anywhere. Plans are in line to prepare and serve food from this location to “fishermen on the river,” as well as others who may be visiting Lighthouse Island.
